Bring Hope to Patients! CMU Professor Chon-Haw Tsai Received the 2020 Taiwan Medical Model Award

China Medical University (CMU) Professor Chon-Haw Tsai, Dean of College of Medicine, has long been engaged in the research on movement disorders and Parkinson’s disease. In addition to providing help to patients over the years, Professor Tsai also represented Taiwan in many international organization. With his contribution to Taiwan’s medical society, Professor Tsai is honored the 2020 Taiwan Medical Model Award.

 

For more than 30 years, Professor Chon-Haw Tsai and his research team specialized in the research on the disease of movement orders and Parkinson’s disease. They published Taiwan’s first research paper on young Parkinson’s disease, and recently focus on the research on deep brain stimulation of Parkinson’s disease, and pathophysiology of myoclonus. Their research brings benefit to many patients, and the team published more than a hundred papers in many international prestigious journals.

 

In 2003, Professor Chon-Haw Tsai established the “Neuromedicine Laboratory” and lead young doctors to provide medical care, conduct disease diagnosis, and discuss the mechanism with neuro electrophysiology. In terms of medical education, Professor Tsai participates in the clinical teaching of neurology department, and combine basic and clinical knowledge to guide the students. He pays special attention to students’ learning attitude, logic thinking and medical examination skills, which made him highly appraised by the students.
