CMU International PhD Student Gil Ton Received the “Taiwan Scholarship Graduate Student Outstanding Performance Award”

Dr. Gil ElaZar Ton, an international PhD student from Israel in CMU Graduate Institute of Acupuncture Science, received the “Taiwan Scholarship Graduate Student Outstanding Performance Award” for his outstanding academic performance. The award is issued by the Ministry of Education, and this year only 13 international students studying in Taiwan received the honor.

 

In the summer of 2015, Dr. Gil Ton came to Taiwan with his family to pursue his study in acupuncture at China Medical University. Dr. Gil Ton recalled that it was a rainy afternoon when he first arrived at CMU. In the campus gate, a lady lend her umbrella to him and that made Gil Ton feel the kindness of Taiwanese people.

 

In Taiwan, many international students came alone to study. However, family is a sweet burden and a main source of motivation to Dr. Gil Ton. Family and children always bring learning energy to him, and they are a big encouragement when his research is not going well. Dr. Gil Ton’s life in Taiwan consisted of family, study, and research, although busy, but very fulfilled and full of love.

 

To gain a deeper understanding of Chinese medicine and acupuncture, Dr. Gil Ton also enhances his Chinese ability by one-on-one Chinese courses and has passed the advanced level of TOCFL (Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language). After graduated from the International Master Program in Acupuncture, Dr. Gil Ton continue his study in the PhD Program in Graduate Institute of Acupuncture Science. Dr. Gil Ton hope to study the healing effect of painless laser acupuncture on facial nerve disorder.

 

Starting from 2019, Dr. Gil Ton was hired as an adjunct lecturer in CMU School of Chinese Medicine, teaching Chinese medicine and acupuncture related courses in English. Dr. Gil Ton lived up to the expectation of a Taiwan Scholarship awardee, made the most of every penny of his scholarship, and made himself shine in the field of acupuncture.
