“Better Life, Better World” China-Asia Associate University Dedicates to Become a Sustainable Campus and Fulfill Social Responsibilities

China Medical University (CMU) and Asia University (AU) held the “2019 China-Asia Associate University Sustainable Development Goal Exhibition” at the campus of CMU for two weeks on November 11, 2019. The exhibition displayed the efforts that CMU and AU have made for building smart campus, and the students’ act in sustainable development issues such as anti-air pollution and restriction on plastic usage.
“Promoting ‘Better Life, Better World’ is one of the important missions of a medical university. Students and faculties of CMU have made efforts and development plans in the aspect of long-term care, environmental protection, food and drug safety, disease prevention, and community care. In addition, we are committed to solve medical problems with our knowledge and medical research, and to improve the life span and quality of patients to fulfill CMU’s social responsibilities”, said President Mien-Chie Hung.
“The combination of Chinese and Western medicine is an advantage of CMU. Through this exhibition, we demonstrated our projects in innovative teaching, developing university characteristics, promoting higher education publicity, and fulfilling social responsibilities. This year, we also included the ideas of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by United Nations, and invited Greenpeace to come to share their thoughts in anti-air pollution and plastic usage restriction. We hope the students and faculties of CMU will realized the importance of sustainable development and become international citizens that care about the environment and the social sustainability”, added Vice President Cheng-Chieh Lin.
As for Asia University, new technologies including cloud computing, virtualization and The Internet of Things (IoT) technologies were adopted to improve the ways of resource sharing in the campus. Asia University integrates teaching, research, management, and campus resources to provide an open educational environment and comfortable living area. Moreover, Asia University has established the “Center for University Social Responsibility” in 2018. Both universities work hard to promote the sustainability of the society, environment, and economy.
