Two sections were included: Elite Doctoral Student Award Competition, which the competitors were recommended by each school; Graduate Student Poster Competition, which the competitors signed up freely. Total of 73 students participated in the competition showed CMU graduate students’ great potential in academic research.

Dr. Ao-Lin Hsu, the Dean of Office of Graduate Student Affairs, said that with the support of the “Higher Education Sprout Project” by the Ministry of Education, CMU held the competition to elevate graduate student’s competitiveness. By participating the competition, students were given the chance to exchange ideas with professors and to discuss about their research through poster exhibition. Chancellor Wen-Hwa Lee also went to the venue and interacted with students. He encouraged the master students in CMU to follow the footsteps of the PhD students and uplift themselves in academic research.

In recent years, CMU focuses on research-oriented elite education. CMU not only encourages students to join research team, but also hold science camp in summer. CMU hopes to promote students’ interdisciplinary learning in the laboratory, and to enrich students’ experience in the university.
