Tainan Municipal An-Nan Hospital Introduces Mid-lumbar Interbody Fusion (MIDLF)

Date: January 15, 2018

The spine care center of Tainan Municipal An-Nan Hospital has Introduced Mid-lumbar Interbody Fusion (MIDLF)- a latest method that could reduce the size of the wound by 50%. The operation could not only reduce hemorrhage infection, but also shorten the length of stay in the hospital. Last but not least, MIDLF could avoid the patient from having long-term sore back, which is a common side effect of the traditional operation.

In the past two years, Dr. Chen from An-Nan Hospital has successfully undergone MIDLF on nearly 100 patients aging from twenties to eighties. The surgery would only left a 2.5cm to 3cm thumb-sized wound, and is simpler than a minimally invasive spine surgery (MIS) and has the same Integration and reconstruction result as TLIF.
