One of the Biggest Winner- China Medical University in the 14th Innovative Award Ceremony

The 14th Innovative Award Ceremony of Institute of Biotechnology and Medical Industry was held on 9th December at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre.  Proudly to announce, four outstanding research teams of China Medical University have become winners of this year Innovative Awards.

First, it is the team led by Professor Juo, Suh-Hang, Institute of New Drug Development with their hard work in the development of Micro-RNA eyedrops to cure myopia. It is found that suppression of over-expressed miR-328 is a reasonable approach to treat myopia. Therefore, they have designed an effective anti-sense to “neutralize” miR-328, and the anti-sense is delivered as an eyedrop to successfully treat myopia in mice and rabbits.

Next, Professor Shyu, Woei-Cherng of Graduate Institute of Biomedical Sciences and Counsellor of China Medical University, Professor Der-Yang Cho with their publications of [Precision Medicine: Development of Mesenchymal Stem Cell treatment in clinical-based precision medicine] to improve cardiac and neuro functions with transplantation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells with IGF1R has also taken home the 2017 Innovative Awards.

Moreover, China Medical University Hospital 3D Printing Medical Research Center (CMUH 3DP MRC) is the first 3DP center which fully integrated with a medical healthcare system to improve the quality of life of the general public. Development of clinical applications of bone tissue engineering of our 3D Printing was also the winner of this year award.

Last but not least, one of the prizes of this awards goes to the research team led by Professor Lane, Hsien-Yuan, Chief, Department of Psychiatry which has found the innovative treatment of benzoate, a D-amino acid oxidase inhibitor for schizophrenia.
